When we released WASTEISOLATION we had almost no audience, didn't know what TikTok was, and didn't think we would get any attention for such a personaly album. Following its popularity, we did our best to write about less personal subject matter on subsequent albums, but WASTEISOLATION, which includes songs about both of our experiences with childhood sexual assault, remained very popular. Unfortunately, that popularity has now culminated in Devi's harrassment, so we have decided to disband. On February 14, 2021, the duo released their fifth studio album, Forever in Your Heart, announcing it 30 minutes prior to its release.
“It’s very friend-oriented music, even though it’s about isolation,” Dizzy says. Although they were never in the room together, Rook and Dizzy spurred each other on throughout the making of the album; an especially gritty vocal from Dizzy might encourage Rook to up the stakes during her turn at the mic, for example. “It’s almost compensating for the energy that’s not in the room,” Rook says. Wasteisolation is the debut studio album by Canadian noise pop duo Black Dresses, released on April 13, 2018. Never thought i would get myself into noise pop, specifically post-industrial, but here we are. I fucking love this album so fucking much, i'm glad that i finally listened to this group.

Across their many solo efforts and side projects, they’ve often worked with fellow pop mutators like Katie Dey and 100 Gecs’ Laura Les, which might give you an idea of the overwhelming sort of music you’re in for with their songs as a duo. And if it doesn’t, they’ve recently been tweeting about the parallels between Kesha and early Nine Inch Nails, seemingly conscious that their music falls somewhere in the murky Venn diagram between those two wildly different acts. Imo this is one of the most lyrically defined songs of the recording. I quite enjoyed the last two songs as well for how dark, powerful and sincere they are. The rest though is "pretty alright", "meh", or annoying and frankly bad. Two songs I especially hated are "Legacy" and "In My Mouth".
I am still very proud of what we accomplished on WASTEISOLATION and it's a deeply special album to me. We are grateful for the support we have received over the years. Please do not spread unfounded rumors or gossip or ask us for further clarification.

She produced/co-produced most of the band's music from 2007 to 2010 and is seen pictured/depicted in promotional artwork on their bandcamp page. In August 2021, Black Dresses' music returned to streaming services. In December 2021, Black Dresses appeared on the holiday compilation album Christmasasaurus X2 with their version of the song "We Are Children of the Light" by Eugene O'Reilley. Scrobbling is when Last.fm tracks the music you listen to and automatically adds it to your music profile. I listened to this whole album and I have to say there were so many moments where I started to not feel it very much, but then something in the song would make me have a rush of euphoria. Every song had one or more of these “rush” moments, and the sardonic tone of the vocalist added a nice juxtaposition between dramatic tones and emotional lyrics.
Last month, Black Dresses — the collaboration between Canadian experimental pop musicians Girls Rituals and Rook — put out their excellent debut album together, WASTEISOLATION. The day the album was released, they shared a music video for “GO INSIDE,” a low-budget affair that gets by on sheer force of personality alone. Their next video, for the groggy “IM EARTH,” is a little more refined, shot by Ivy Adams in washed-out colors by a pool surrounded by shadowy vegetation, but the two of them are still the main pull.

Fans can be alive and inspired and full of goodness. However, "Fandom" often involves the culture of acting like you own a person and feeling entitled to them. Fandom frequently feels within its right to try and punish or destroy the object of its fascination if it does not cater to the fandom's perception of what it should be. We do not hate our fans - we've had many positive interactions with them - but recent events have been far too strenuous on Devi's health, so we are simply doing what we have to. There is a lot of false information going around. "IN MY MOUTH" was NOT the song that set this all off, contrary to what has been reported.
