Gift Baskets: St Louis Gift Baskets, Missouri Gift Baskets, Christmas Gift Baskets, Thank You Gift B

Aside from that, there's quite a bit to enjoy here if you're a big fan of noise pop, especially the noisiest of noise pop. There is a lot of clipping and distortion on here, which can get overbearing at times, but there are moments where that can be enjoyed quite a lot! There're moments where the noise can fit over the track for the better, even on the choruses where the melodies are supposed to be the forefront to them. For that, I enjoy it quite a bit, and the chords and harmonies on other parts, with or without the noise, they're very enjoyable more often than not!

All around, this is an absolute gem in Black Dresses discography. I would give it a few listens to fully absorb it, and i certainly wouldn't recommend it for anyone, but if you're looking for a dark, emotionally-charged noise pop album, this is a perfect pick. THERES NOTHNG HERE WORTH DYING FOR is a perfect example of this. "THIS PLACE WAS BEAUTIFUL ONCE UPON A TIME. THIS PLACE IS SOMETHING YOU CANT RECOGNIZE...." this section is just gorgeous.

Track listing

You can always bring everyone else for a second appointment after you have narrowed down your favorites. I'll probably sound like a boomer writing this but I really don't feel the way I do here for much music, so I hope anyone reading this can give me a pass. The writing and production are abrasive and brutal yet amazing at the same time. It represents probably the lowest moment in life, where everything is terrible and the world refuses to lighten up and get better, instead opting to make things even worse for the rest of their life up until we die. It’s uncomfortable, but sadly it holds a bit of truth, considering how the whole fucking world feels like it’s imploding on itself and we could all die in the next few decades. What Black Dresses do on THANK YOU is to take every cliché of millennial angst and self-hatred and to sandwich them in between as many layers of distortion, hostile beats and raw vocal technique as are on offer.

Everyone who knows me knows i am a complete sucker for hype songs. DEATH/BAD GIRL sounds like it was made to be performed and sung with a group of friends or alongside rook and devi themselves. Its one of those songs you can jump around to and be able to get so tired you lay down on the floor. Its cheesy, its fun, and its quite literally a hype song. Its one for the fans, its one for everyone to hop around in. It has the perfect mix of hype song and the black dresses spin!

I don't really know how to describe how this album sounds, but I can direct you to the cover, which is a great visual representation of it. There weren't as many songs here that I love as I would like, but this is still an exceptional release nonetheless. This album is the real love it or hate it of black dresses. It’s pretty much 11 songs worth of what you’ve come to expect from Black Dresses, but these feel even more finely-tuned than the ones that came before. It sounds little less abrasive overall, or maybe it’s just mixed a little better.

This is a band that does not give a single SHIT about sounding good—and somehow makes a masterpiece in the process. The massive bombardment this has gotten after it has premiered at #1 on the 2019 charts is absolutely unfortunate. It has its problems, but i still find myself very happy with the album, a lot happier than i used to be. Its flaws do bring it down, but this album really does shine as black dresses' most cohesive album to date. The lyrics are cheesy, and i feel a good portion of the song is not structured well. The chorus is fucking brilliant and fun, but it just doesn't fit with the rest of the song. The duo announced via Twitter on May 26, 2020, that Black Dresses would be disbanding, citing the harassment received by McCallion as the reason.

On February 14, 2021, the duo released their fifth studio album, Forever in Your Heart, announcing it 30 minutes prior to its release. Thank You is the second full-length album by industrial pop duo Black Dresses, a collaborative effort between weirdo pop acts Devi McCallion and Ada Rook. While I'm not very familiar with rook's work, I've been a big fan of Devi McCallion since the days of Cats Millionaire and have followed her work pretty closely.

There’s still those satisfying moments of crackling noise, but a lot of that is supplanted by a persistent general unease, characterized by creeping synths that stretch like bubblegum stuck to a shoe. Closer “BABY STEPS” sounds as close to a lullaby as Black Dresses will probably ever get; “LOOK AWAY” paces in frantic circles, zooming by like a rat race. THANK YOU is the second album released by Canadian noise-pop duo Black Dresses. It was released on February 5th, 2019 via their Bandcamp. The album is the follow-up to their debut album released in April 2018, WASTEISOLATION. Black Dresses are probably the best band to listen to if you're feeling like music sucks and that you suck for listening to it so much.
