I promise it’ll be 1000x more flattering than anything else you could pick. Classic family portrait for the holiday card is what I strive for in the first 5-10 minutes of a session when everyone is focused. Hats, scarves, statement necklaces and earrings are a perfect way to take your outfit to the nest level. They make an outfit look polished, pulled together and complete. And they are a perfect way to add a pop of color. Ah, the endless 'what to wear for the family photo' debate!
For shoes, opt for booties or ballet slippers. (Light blue or soft magenta make great color choices.) Style hair with white bows. A bright yellow tee, blue jeans, and gorgeously solid boots make up this dude-approved outfit. Take a leaf from dad’s look with your little guy’s matching outfit, simply swapping out the boots for a more kid-friendly pair. Rosamund Pike smiled while leaving a fitting session at Dior during Paris Fashion Week on Sep. 26, 2022. Her long black dress and cropped navy jacket were perfect for the fall weather.
Choose Subtle Patterns
Too few colors and you run the risk of boring and bland (white t-shirt kind of thing). Too many and you run the risk of your eye not knowing where to look and the photo feeling “messy”. Fall is upon us which means the annual family picture session for the Christmas card isn’t too far behind (if you haven’t already taken yours). So, here are some tips for you fellow extra-curvaceous women trying to work out what on earth to wear for a photo session. Here is another winter family picture idea for large families. To avoid the possibility of broken arms, scratches, and cuts, it’s best not to plan any crazy, adventurous activities the week before pictures.
Have fun playing stylist and let your family’s personality shine. Patterns look nice in photos, but only if used in moderation. A good rule of thumb is to only have a couple of patterned pieces. Sometimes a single watch or a bracelet can add completeness to the image. However, this isn’t relevant for babies, whose delicate bodies and facial features look their best being non-embellished.
What are the color schemes for family photos for spring?

This was a little bit sad but I was so happy that I had purchased this dress from you a little while ago. On May 11 my grandma who was just shy of 103 years old passed away and her favorite color was orange. So we all decided to wear something orange and bright and cheery for her funeral. MAXI DRESSES
This dad is holiday-approved with a long-sleeved pink button down and navy blue shorts. As for mama, keep it simple with this look that is easily converted to maternity with the swapping of a shirt! Pair a drapey, charcoal-gray cardigan with a white maternity top. Wear with black leggings and chic brown boots.
As you’ll see below, we’ve been taking family portraits for several years, so I’ve picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. Okay, this is a personal preference, but I’ve found over the years that any time clients wear tons of blue, something looks off to me. So if you’re wanting to add blue to your session, stick to only one article of clothing . That sounds funny to say, but I just mean they are muted and not bright. The example below shows a family who added only one blue item and it’s a great shade!

If you typically wear glasses, wear them for your session. But if you have polarized or transitional lenses, consider taking them off. Dark glasses will cover your eyes in the photos. Avoid outfits that are too formal for your setting. If you are in a natural area, a tuxedo, formal dress, tie/bowtie, might feel out of place.
