Tips For Wearing A Black Shirt With A Red Tie
If you want to skip the patterns but still prefer a more striking look, consider going with a skinny red tie instead. The slim profile creates an eye catching look that’s undeniably classy. The main exception is Christmas red, which can prove striking at all your formal events. Other bright colours can overwhelm your entire outfit, so it’s a bad idea to let a vivid tie steal the show.
For instance, a purple shirt with an orange tie or a green shirt with a pink tie might look like a bit too much for many professional settings. If you’re going for a T-shirt, keep things smart with a crew neck design in a simple pattern or block colour. Anything that’s too baggy, with a neckline that’s too low down won’t work with the sleek fit of the blazer. You can also try a neat roll neck in a plain colour like grey or navy.

I would rather be unconventional and feel better than wear a light shirt which I would not feel comfortable in at all. I am kind of hosting the event so I don’t mind standing out a bit.
?? We like to mix light and dark hues to give the combo a little more contrast and pop. It’s extremely versatile, doesn’t have to be pulled over his head to easily take off or put on under changing conditions, and won’t ever go out of style. When in doubt, remember the stylish man’s mantra, you can never go wrong with a crisp white shirt. I have a sharkskin 2 button grey suit – not charcoal but not too light either. That’s what we were intending with this piece, Alex.
Grey Suit & Blue Shirt Color Combination
The pocket square in the photo is a nice touch of contrast. For cufflinks, don’t try to match the colors. Go with metal ones that’ll work with any color of shirt you want to wear them with. What do you usually match these wild ties to? Anyways, a purple tie with a solid blue jacket is already a highly saturated combination so you won’t want to throw another strong color into the mix.
What should you be looking for in a dinner suit? From your dinner jacket to a waistcoat and cufflinks, here's the lowdown on everything you need from a black tie suit.
